Did you spot ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’, ‘Incredible India’ on Auckland buses?
Two Auckland buses are carrying a message that may catch the eye of the city’s Indian community , “Viksit Bharat @2047” and “Incredible India” posters showcasing India’s development story and cultural heritage in New Zealand.
The four-week campaign, running from August 10 to September 6 on two buses, is a public outreach initiative by the Consulate General of India in Auckland aimed at raising awareness about contemporary India among New Zealand audiences.
The campaign centres on two themes. “Viksit Bharat @2047” highlights India’s development aspirations and achievements, while “Incredible India” showcases the country’s cultural heritage, tourism offerings and diversity.
“By displaying these messages on Auckland buses, the Consulate seeks to increase public awareness and visibility of India among New Zealand audiences,” the Consulate General of India told The Indian Weekender.
The Consulate has also taken the campaign to social media, encouraging people who spot the buses to take a photograph or selfie and share it online.

“See one? Snap a selfie or photo, tag us and share it with us!,” the post mentions.
“Spot it. Snap it. Tag it.”
The Consulate said the campaign has received an encouraging response so far.
“The initiative has generated interest among both the Indian community and the wider public, helping to enhance the visibility of India across Auckland.”
The campaign comes amid a focus on India-New Zealand relations following Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to New Zealand in July 2026, as the two countries look to deepen bilateral ties.

The Consulate said the visit “provided a significant impetus to the partnership and reinforced cooperation across trade and investment, education, tourism, technology, innovation and people-to-people ties.”
It said the visit also contributed to the elevation of the relationship to a Strategic Partnership and the adoption of the India-New Zealand Strategic Partnership: Roadmap to 2030.
The roadmap provides a framework for deeper cooperation in areas including trade and economic engagement, defence and security, education, science and technology, people-to-people ties, culture, sport and regional cooperation.
Looking ahead, the Consulate plans to undertake further public outreach initiatives aimed at promoting India and encouraging dialogue around India-New Zealand relations.
“Going forward, we will continue to explore innovative and accessible platforms to showcase India's tourism, culture, economic transformation, investment opportunities, educational links and technological achievements to audiences across New Zealand.”
