Gautam Hari Singhania, Chairman and Managing Director of Raymond Group, was injured in a speedboat accident in the Maldives and is currently recovering in Mumbai. Reported by      Arya Mishra  from Hindustan Times. 

The industrialist was among the tourists on a speedboat that capsized near V Felidhoo. He suffered minor injuries in the incident and was later rescued safely.

Confirming his condition, a spokesperson said, “Gautam Singhania suffered minor injuries following an unfortunate accident. He is recovering under due care in Mumbai.”

The spokesperson also expressed gratitude for the wishes received, adding, “We thank you for the wishes and pray for the well-being of the affected friends.”

Speedboat capsizes, two Indians missing

According to reports, the speedboat was carrying at least seven people when it overturned early Friday morning near Vaavu atoll Felidhoo. The group included two women from the United Kingdom and Russia, and five men from India.

Following the accident, five people were swept into the sea, including a woman from Russia and four Indian men. While three individuals were rescued with injuries and are undergoing treatment, two Indian nationals, including rally driver Hari Singh, remain missing. Search operations are currently underway.

What did police say about the accident?

As per reports, police confirmed that the speedboat had overturned near Vaavu atoll Felidhoo. “The two missing persons are Indian nationals,” police said, while confirming that five people had fallen into the sea.

The rescued individuals are being treated at Vaavu Atoll Hospital. Meanwhile, search operations are being carried out by the Maldives National Defence Force’s Male' Area Command Coast Guard Second Squadron.

Authorities stated that the incident occurred about two nautical miles southwest of Keyodhoo, and efforts are ongoing to locate the missing individuals.
