According to police sources cited by The Indian Express, Dharmendra had been admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital in October due to breathlessness. Though he was discharged on November 12 and continued treatment at home, the actor breathed his last on November 24.
Across a remarkable career spanning more than six decades, Dharmendra appeared in over 300 films, delivering iconic performances in classics such as Sholay, Satyakam, Phool Aur Patthar, Chupke Chupke, Anupama, and Dharam Veer. His charismatic screen presence earned him legendary titles like “He-Man of Bollywood,” “Garam Dharam,” and “Action King.”
Beyond acting, Dharmendra also produced films and served briefly as a Member of Parliament. In 2012, he was honoured with the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian award.
Dharmendra is survived by his first wife, Parkash Kaur, and their four children — Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Vijeta Deol, and Ajeeta Deol. In 1979, he married actor Hema Malini, with whom he has two daughters, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol.
As the Deol family performed his last rites, tributes poured in from across the film fraternity and political leaders. Shah Rukh Khan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and many others expressed their grief and admiration for the legendary actor.
