Mithun Chakraborty undergoes minor surgery, recovering well

Veteran actor and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty has been admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata after undergoing a minor surgical procedure.

According to The Times of India, the development was made public on Friday by West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, who visited the actor at the hospital and shared an update on his health through social media.

The Chief Minister posted photographs from his hospital visit on Facebook, showing Mithun Chakraborty resting in his hospital bed. According to The Times of India, Adhikari assured the public that the veteran actor was recovering well and extended his wishes for a speedy recovery.

"Renowned film actor and one of the members of the Central Committee of BJP, Mithun Chakraborty, is admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata due to physical illness.

I went to the hospital to meet him today. I spoke to him and took information about his physical condition. I pray to the merciful God for his speedy recovery," the Chief Minister said in his post on Facebook.

Speaking to reporters after the hospital visit, Adhikari revealed that Chakraborty had undergone a minor operation on Thursday night. According to The Times of India, he also said that the veteran actor had preferred to keep the matter private and had informed only a few senior party leaders before the procedure.

"He had informed our party's state president and me in West Bengal, Samik Bhattacharya, regarding it last night. He did not want publicity over the development. He is doing well. Will be released soon," the Chief Minister said.

According to The Times of India, Adhikari also met with the doctors treating Mithun Chakraborty and expressed confidence that the actor was recovering steadily and would soon be discharged from the hospital.

While speaking about Chakraborty's health, the Chief Minister also praised the actor's contributions beyond the world of cinema. According to The Times of India, Adhikari described Mithun Chakraborty as an important figure whose influence extends beyond politics and acknowledged his role in the state's political landscape.

"His identity is beyond just his political life. His contribution behind the beginning of a nationalist government in West Bengal is immense. A small operation was performed. He is doing well now," the Chief Minister added.
