Chandigarh Girl Eyes Asia-Pacific Golf Glory In Christchurch

Heena Kang, Ranked number 1 Amateur Golfer in India

Chandigarh's young golf prodigy, Heena Kang, is set to represent India at the 44th Queen Sirikit Cup at Clearwater Golf Club, Christchurch, New Zealand, from March 20th to 23rd, 2024. Under the guidance of her mentor, Coach Laurence Brotheridge from the United Kingdom, Kang has consistently demonstrated her talent on national and international stages.


The Queen Sirikit Cup, named after Queen Sirikit of Thailand, officially the Asia-Pacific Amateur Ladies Golf Team Championship, is an annual amateur team golf championship for women organised by the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation.

Starting her golf journey at the age of 10, Heena has participated in over 100 tournaments, making a mark of excellence in each one and rising to the top ranks in Indian women's golf.

 

 

 

 

 

Heena secured the Amateur Winner title at the Hero Women's Pro Golf Tour Leg 6 in 2022 and impressed at the 26th Punjab Open Ladies Amateur Golf Championship in 2019. Her recent performances include representing India at prestigious events like the Women's Australian Master of the Amateurs, the Australian Women's Amateur Championship, and the Women's Amateur Asia Pacific 2024 in Pattaya, Thailand.


Ranked No. 1 in the Indian Golf Union Ladies Amateur Merit List, Kang's prowess extends beyond the national borders. Her appearances at international events such as the Women's Australian Master of the Amateurs and the Australian Women's Amateur Championship have allowed her to showcase her skills on a global stage.

As she prepares for the 44th Queen Sirikit Cup, Heena Kang stands as a true ambassador of Indian golf, drawing attention for her pursuit of excellence on the greens.
