Passenger turns plane bathroom into gym
A recent video shows a passenger turning the tiny bathroom of an aircraft into an improvised workout space during a long-haul flight. Reported by Vaishali Kapila from NDTV.
Space on flights is always limited, and travellers often find their own ways to stay comfortable during the journey. Some stretch their legs in the aisle, while others walk around the cabin to reduce stiffness.
During long hours in the air, even a little movement can bring relief. But occasionally, someone takes the idea of staying active to an entirely different level. In this case, a passenger transformed the cramped aircraft washroom into his personal fitness zone — a sight that has left viewers both surprised and impressed.
The clip was shared by Instagram user Dom Stroh, a Berlin based endurance athlete and content creator, who decided to attempt a five kilometre run during an eleven hour long haul journey.
In the now viral video, he can be seen wedged inside the aircraft's tiny washroom, with a small screen tracking his progress toward the 5 kilometre target. With only a sliver of space to move, he keeps himself going by shuffling in little circles and turning sharply every few steps.
At times, he even steps onto the toilet seat to switch direction, making the most of every inch of the cramped cabin space.
Even in such an awkward setting, Stroh kept at it until he hit his target. The numbers shown in the video indicate that he eventually covered 5.53 kilometres in just under an hour, all within the confines of the plane's bathroom.
The internet reacted quickly to the unusual inflight workout, and the comments showed a mix of shock, humour and disbelief.
Some people joked about the man's stunt, while others imagined how annoyed passengers must have been waiting outside the cramped washroom. Here are some of the reactions:
"So now I know the real reason behind that turbulence."
"Did you actually block the toilet for an hour?"
"Unhinged, but also... respect?"
"You need a doctor."
"You probably missed your chicken or beef meal."
"You are going to be the reason airlines put up 'no running' signs in the toilet."
"I would be furious if you did that on my flight, blocking the bathroom like that."
"Mate, what is wrong with you?"
"Humans need to know their limits."
"Did you occupy the toilet for that long? Airlines should take note of this guy, he might end up on a no-fly list!"
"Me, standing outside waiting to pee for an hour."
"So this is what people do while I'm waiting outside."
