Florida McDonald’s Shooting Turns Into a “McMess”

McDonald's Employee Shoots Man in the Neck After Complaints About Wait Time in the Drive-Thru: 'It Was Just a McMess'

A late-night altercation at a McDonald’s in Davenport, Florida, turned violent when an employee allegedly shot a customer in the neck after an argument over wait times in the drive-thru, according to People, citing the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

New call-to-action

Sheriff Grady Judd described the chaotic scene as a complete “McMess.” The incident occurred around 3 a.m. on October 12, when 21-year-old employee Yoan Soto was working an overnight shift and two customers — Peter Story, 19, and Nicholas Jones, 18 — became furious over delays caused by heavy online orders.

Despite Soto’s apology for being “way behind,” the pair allegedly began threatening him, saying they would attack him after his shift ended. Video footage released by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office reportedly shows the two entering the restaurant, confronting Soto, and escalating the fight

During the struggle, Soto allegedly pulled a gun in self-defense, and as the customers tried to grab it, the weapon fired — hitting Story in the neck. Sheriff Judd called the injury “a blessing” for being minor, adding wryly, “When you start shooting McGuns, you get people’s McAttention.”

New call-to-action

After the incident, both customers and Soto fled. Soto was later charged with tampering with evidence, while Story and Jones face charges of trespassing and disorderly conduct.

Sheriff Judd urged people to avoid violent confrontations, saying investigators are “McGood at sorting McCrimes.”
