DAWN! Meet The Indian News in a brand-new avatar

What began as a humble journey in early 2018, with a team of enthusiastic novices, gradually evolved into a recognised voice in Aotearoa New Zealand’s ethnic media landscape.

From national events and community gatherings to festivals, cultural programmes and musical evenings, the presence of The Indian News (TIN)became synonymous with community journalism.

Over the years, TIN earned the affection and respect of its readers by remaining close to the community, highlighting its achievements, raising its concerns and giving a voice to its people.

A major milestone came in March 2025, when the TIN team was invited to join Prime Minister Christopher Luxon’s trade delegation to India. The visit was extensively covered through live updates and detailed reporting, marking a proud moment in the publication’s journey.

Over the years, leading political figures, celebrities, visiting Indian artists, community leaders and high achievers from the Indian diaspora have supported TIN. Yet, through every milestone and challenge, the publication remained firmly rooted in its identity and commitment to the community.

After an eventful eight-and-a-half-year journey, The Indian News joined hands with The Indian Weekender in July this year, opening a new chapter for the publication.

Going forward, the focus will be on richer, evergreen content from India and around the world, covering art, culture, fashion, food, spirituality, health, lifestyle and India’s growing influence on the global stage—as well as the many positive developments contributing to the vision of a Viksit Bharat.

From Vol. 9, Issue 13, readers will see a refreshed and revamped The Indian News with a renewed editorial direction and wider content offering.
