The Mana Andhra Telugu Association Incorporated (MATA Inc) hosted the grand Vinayaka Chavithi Celebrations 2025 (Ganesh Chathurdhi Celebrations 2025) at Mount Roskill War Memorial Hall, Wesley, Auckland, bringing together over 250 members of the community for a vibrant and devotional gathering.

The event was graced by eminent dignitaries, with His Excellency Consul General Dr. Madan Mohan Sethi and Madam Swagatika Buyan attending as Chief Guests. Guests of Honour included Hon. Carlos Cheung, MP for Mount Roskill, Hon. Garcia Paulo, MP for New Lynn, Hon. Helen White, MP for Mount Albert, and Hon. Michael Wood, whose presence and words of encouragement added immense value to the occasion.

Leaders of various South Indian associations, including Arun Reddy, Vishwanadh, Jyothi Muddham, Vai Ravindran, Suhas, Vishu, and Smitha Nair, along with respected members of the Indian diaspora such as Jeeth Suchdev and Brigu Bhaskar, joined hands to extend their support. Several prominent Telugu leaders from Auckland also took part, reinforcing the spirit of unity and cultural pride.

The highlight of the evening was the Laddu auction, won by KK Anna and Sridevi Krishna Pusarla Akka’s family with a generous bid of $2001, adding a memorable moment of celebration to the festivities. Special gratitude was extended to Rajendra Dharanikota Anna for sponsoring the beautiful Vinayaka idol, which became the centrepiece of devotion.

The success of the event was attributed to the tireless efforts of the young and dynamic MATA Inc. team, including Sai Geervani, Harika Garikapati, Harika Sushwanth, Venkat Sridevi, Sridevi Garu, Raja Reddy, Bala, Ravi Anna, DP Anna, Kalyani Akka, and Naga Raju, whose dedication and community service spirit ensured the smooth execution of the celebration.

Expressing gratitude, the organizers said the event was not just a religious celebration but also a reaffirmation of cultural identity, togetherness, and devotion among the Telugu community in New Zealand.
