High Commission launches form to register stranded Indians in New Zealand

The Indian High Commission in NZ has launched a form to register Indian nationals stranded in New Zealand during Covid-19 international travel restrictions. 

The purpose of this registration is to create a database of stranded Indian nationals in NZ, as it will help the High Commission of India conduct an advance preparation and planning exercise to facilitate their future travel back to India. 

The Indian High Commission published a poster on its Facebook page inviting stranded Indian nationals to register themselves on a Google formhttps://forms.gle/wZPGzKxXZX6t1ok48

Those interested can also register themselves on the High Commission's website under the head 'Consular Services' - 'Registration of Stranded Indians in New Zealand'. 

Due to the rise in Covid-19 pandemic, New Zealand closed its borders to anyone but residents and citizens on March 19 and the Indian government too followed by cancelling all international inbound travels from March 22. 

The Indian High Commission has urged Indian nationals to follow them on social media sites, Facebook, Twitter and their website for latest updates and support messages. 

Free Grocery Distribution for Indian Nationals in New Zealand on Friday, May 1

The High Commission of India has conducted several free grocery drives in the last five weeks to support Indian nationals in New Zealand in dire need of essentials. 

The High Commission posted a new date for free grocery distribution for Indian nationals on Friday, May 1 from the Consulate of India office in Auckland. 

"If you are an Indian national, in a dire emergency and need for essentials like food, the Indian High Commission in New Zealand is providing food packets as a relief for the needy," a Facebook post by the Indian High Commission read. 

People can register themselves on a Google Doc link (https://bit.ly/IndiaRelief) for the free grocery bag. Registered individuals will receive a confirmation email and a specific time to pick up the grocery bags from the Consulate of India office on 133A Onehunga Mall, Onehunga, Auckland. 

The food distribution drive starts from noon on Friday, May 1 till 5 p.m.

Individuals picking up the grocery bags are requested to maintain social distancing of two metres when queueing for the food bag and encourage to wear mask and gloves to avoid any close contacts.

Volunteers present at the Consulate office will confirm their registrations and handover the free grocery bags to them.
