Such incidents are immediately taken up with the authorities concerned of the host country to ensure that the cases are properly investigated and the perpetrators are punished as per their domestic laws," he said.

The missions are tasked with monitoring developments, extending assistance where required, and ensuring that cases receive appropriate attention from the host governments.

The figures underscore the challenges faced by the growing Indian diaspora across different parts of the world. According to The Times of India, while the government continues to engage with foreign authorities on issues concerning the welfare and security of Indian citizens, Indian diplomatic missions have also been instructed to respond promptly whenever such incidents are reported.

The Ministry reiterated that it remains committed to protecting the interests of Indians living and working overseas, with embassies and consulates continuing to monitor developments closely and coordinate with local law enforcement agencies to ensure justice is pursued in accordance with the laws of the respective countries.
