Andhra woman, mother-in-law die after their car rams porsche in Australia

The two women and the Porsche driver were rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared Neha Bommali (33) and her mother-in-law, Rama Devi (67), dead on arrival, as reported by NDTV.

A woman from Andhra Pradesh and her mother-in-law died after the car they were travelling in collided with a Porsche Macan in Melbourne, Australia, in a tragic road accident, NDTV reported.

The incident took place on September 16 at around 9:40 pm at the intersection of Boardwalk Boulevard and Innisfail Drive in Point Cook, a south-western suburb of Melbourne, according to NDTV. The two women were travelling in a Toyota Corolla when the vehicle crashed into a Porsche.

Neha Bommali, 33, and her mother-in-law, Rama Devi, 67, were among those rushed to a nearby hospital following the collision. However, doctors declared both women dead on arrival, NDTV reported. The driver of the Porsche was also taken to hospital and is currently undergoing treatment.

Neha was a mother of two young children — a three-and-a-half-year-old son, Haarav, and a one-year-old daughter, Vivanvi. According to a fundraising appeal shared by her husband, Varun Chandra Gunna, Neha was the "light and energy" of their home and she "loved to dance".

The family had recently celebrated Vivanvi's first birthday, making the tragedy particularly devastating for her husband, children and extended family, NDTV reported.

Rama Devi had recently travelled from India to Australia with her 75-year-old husband, Tulsi Prasad. The couple were in Australia on a tourist visa and had travelled there to spend time with their son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren, according to details reported by NDTV.

Prasad is a former employee of Hindustan Shipyard Limited. He was also a former office-bearer of the Visakhapatnam District Cricket Association (VDCA), NDTV reported.

Following the accident, members of the Telugu community in Melbourne came together to support the grieving family. A GoFundMe appeal has been launched to help cover repatriation, funeral and other expenses related to the deaths of the two women, according to NDTV.

The family has said that they want to bring the bodies of both Neha and Rama Devi back to Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. They plan to perform the traditional Hindu funeral rites there, NDTV reported.

The tragic accident has left the family facing the loss of a young mother and a grandmother, while two young children have been left without their mother. Community members in Melbourne are supporting the family as they work to bring the two women home and make arrangements for their final rites.
