A large tree fell onto a property on Kolmar Road in Auckland on Tuesday afternoon, damaging a house and crushing a car while four people, including a three-year-old child, were inside the home.
According to a report by 1News, the incident occurred around 5pm, prompting Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) to send a crew from Papatoetoe.
The tree split into three sections as it came down. One part struck the roof of the house, while another landed on a car parked on the property.
Footage captured by 1News at the scene showed the tree’s roots torn out of the ground, with its trunk and branches spread across the front of the house.
Despite the damage, none of the four occupants inside the house was injured.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand has been approached by 1News for further comment. Auckland Council and Treescapes have also been contacted for comment.
