Three Kiwis Strike Gold: Trio Splits Record $55M Powerball Jackpot
Three lucky Powerball players have shared a record-breaking must-win $55 million Lotto jackpot, each walking away with an incredible $18.3 million. Reported by RNZ.
Lotto NZ chief executive Jason Delamore called it a “fantastic result,” saying it was heartening to see such a massive prize divided among several winners.
“A win like this doesn’t just change one life — it can uplift families, friends, and entire communities,” Delamore said. He added that many previous winners have used their prize money to support loved ones and contribute to charities, creating a ripple effect of generosity.
Each winner will receive $18,333,333 from Powerball First Division plus $55,556 from Lotto First Division, bringing the total to $18,388,889 per ticket.
Lotto NZ is urging the winners to contact its Customer Support team on 0800 695 6886 to access guidance and support during what is sure to be a life-changing moment.
The locations of the winning tickets will be announced on Sunday.
Delamore also thanked New Zealanders for taking part in the draw, noting that 100% of Lotto NZ profits go back into local communities.
“Every ticket makes a difference,” he said. “You’re helping thousands of good causes across Aotearoa.”
This historic draw surpasses the previous biggest prize of $50 million, offered twice in 2020. That year, two players split the amount in February, and later in August, ten winners took home $5 million each.
The last time a massive jackpot went to a single winner was in 2016, when one player claimed the entire $44 millionprize.
