Police find sandal as search continues for missing French man in Cromwell
Police are continuing efforts to locate a missing 21-year-old French national who disappeared in Cromwell, Central Otago, last week.
According to a report by 1News, Antoine Richard, who had been in New Zealand for work, was last seen at about 11.45 pm on Saturday at the Victoria Arms Hotel, located on the corner of Achil St and Melmore Tce.
He has not been seen or heard from since, police said.
Search operations are ongoing, with both land and water teams expected to be active across the Cromwell area over the weekend, 1News has reported.
At the time he went missing, Antoine was wearing light-coloured knee-length shorts, a black T-shirt and light grey rubber sandals.
According to 1News, "Search teams have located a grey rubber sandal from the shore of Lake Dunstan and appeal to the public that may have seen anyone matching this description to get in touch with police," a police statement read.
"We also continue to appeal for CCTV throughout Cromwell and request that residents with footage please review any activity from 11.45 pm on Saturday, 21 March to 8 am on Sunday, 22 March," as quoted by 1News.
Police are urging anyone with information about Antoine Richard or his whereabouts to contact them on 105.
