Anil Kapoor turns down Dhurandhar 2 cameo due to prior commitment
Anil Kapoor recently shared that he had to turn down a cameo appearance in director Aditya Dhar’s upcoming film Dhurandhar 2, despite being approached for the role. Reported by TOI.
The actor explained that he declined the offer because he had already committed his dates to another filmmaker.
Speaking to India Today, Kapoor emphasised the importance of professionalism and honouring prior commitments. “Yes, Aditya came to me for Dhurandhar 2.
He wanted me to do a small cameo in the film. But the reason I am what I am today is because of my professionalism and my commitment. That’s very important—only talent cannot make you what you are,” Kapoor said while explaining why he could not take up the role.
The actor added that although he was interested in the cameo, he chose not to cancel his earlier commitment.
“At that time, I had already committed those dates to another filmmaker. I told Aditya, ‘I would have loved to do this cameo, but I’m already committed.’ He is releasing the film now, and it’s a fantastic film. It’s my loss, but it’s okay,” he said.
Kapoor also noted that maintaining professional ethics in the film industry is crucial and expressed hope that he would collaborate with Dhar in the future. “At least I know in the back of my mind that it can happen to him as well — there could be another filmmaker who has just delivered a big blockbuster and offers me something when I’m already committed to Aditya.
If I then go and do that film and cancel his dates, that would be completely unprofessional. So yes, he did offer me the role, and hopefully we will work together in the future,” he added.
Towards the end of the conversation, Kapoor hinted that he might prefer exploring something new rather than appearing in a potential third installment. “I think I will do something new. Kuch naya karunga (I will do something new),” he said.
Dhurandhar 2 features Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi and Sara Arjun in key roles and is scheduled to release in theatres on March 19.
