The Bihar Jharkhand Sabha of Australia & New Zealand (BJSM) hosted its annual Sharad Milan Samaroh 2025 in Auckland this July, attracting many members of the Kiwi-Indian community for an evening of cultural performances, heartfelt speeches, and shared identity.
BJSM President Bhrigu Bhaskar opened the event by highlighting the cultural richness of Bihar and Jharkhand. The evening began with a soulful Ganesh Vandana by Shubhi, followed by energetic cultural dances from Naysa and Manisha, whose “Ram Ayenge” performance drew particular praise. The programme featured intergenerational storytelling, with former BJSM members and elders addressing the audience, emphasising connection and continuity across generations.
A key moment in the celebration was the Community Award Presentation, honouring individuals who have contributed meaningfully to the BJSM community. Traditional food, including the popular Litti Chokha, added a nostalgic and authentic touch.
Among those recognised for their support were Sanjiv Kumar and his wife, who were thanked for their uplifting presence. Leaders from other Indian regional associations also attended, including Rakesh Maihar (Uttar Pradesh Association), Chetan Joshi (Uttarakhand Association), and Nikita and Ritesh Khanna of the Bageshwar Dham NZ Team.
