Dance, Raffles & Rajasthani Flavour: Teej 2025 Comes To NZ

For the first time on a large public scale, the vibrant spirit of Rajasthan will light up Auckland this August. The Rajasthan Association Charitable Trust New Zealand is set to host Hariyali Teej 2025 on Saturday, 2 August 2025, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Blockhouse Bay Community Centre, 524 Blockhouse Bay Road, Blockhouse Bay.
While Teej has been celebrated privately in New Zealand for over a decade, this year’s celebration marks a significant milestone as it opens doors to the wider community. Organisers describe it as more than just a festival—it is an immersive cultural experience aimed at fostering tradition, connection, and inclusivity.
A Celebration with Purpose
The event holds deep significance on multiple fronts. It ensures cultural continuity by giving second-generation Indian-New Zealanders the chance to engage directly with Rajasthani customs. For immigrants and their families, the event offers a sense of community and belonging, providing a comforting touch of home.
It is also a platform that supports local talent, giving artists, entrepreneurs, and small businesses a space to shine. And importantly, it promotes intercultural harmony, inviting Auckland’s diverse communities to experience and appreciate the rich traditions of Rajasthan.
Packed Programme and Festive Offerings
Attendees can look forward to live music, vibrant dance performances, and even a dance workshop encouraging audience participation. Families with children will enjoy interactive activity stalls, and there are 20+ raffle prizes up for grabs. The venue will also host a range of jewellery and clothing stalls, showcasing traditional Rajasthani craftsmanship.
