NZ begin positively on Day 1 of the Auckland Test

Auckland: After losing few quick wickets, New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum and Kane Williamson hit centuries to help the hosts comfortably place themselves at 329 for four at the end of the first day of the first Test against India at Eden Park, here on Thursday.
New Zealand got off to a poor start as they lost the wickets of Peter Fulton (13), Hamish Rutherford (6) and Ross Taylor (3) within the 18th over as the scorecard read 30 for 3.
With the team struggling at that point, McCullum and Williamson steadied the innings by hitting centuries.
Smashing two sixes and 18 boundaries, skipper remained unbeaten at 143. It was the eighth century of his career.
Williamson on the other hand smashed 10 boundaries and two sixes in his 172-ball 113. Zaheer Khan picked up his wicket in the 69th over.
The Indian bowlers used the conditions well initially but things changed as McCullum and Williamson played the Indian batsmen quite comfortably and ended the day with the home side standing on a slight advantageous position.
India earlier won the toss and elected to field first.
Khan and Ishant Sharma took two wickets for India.
