The funeral of 25-year-old Harpreet Singh, who died in a car-bus crash in Queenstown on Sunday, October 14, will be conducted at Manukau Memorial Gardens in Auckland on Saturday, October 27 at 3 p.m.
Harpreet Singh was driving when his car rammed into a tourist bus carrying 15 people including the driver on State Highway 6 near Devils Staircase, South of Queenstown. He was the sole occupant of the car and died of injuries on the spot.
The passengers and the bus driver were uninjured in the accident.
25-year-old Harpreet Singh was working at Mitre 10 Mega in Queenstown and had moved there only 6-7 months ago. He earlier worked at the same store in Botany branch in Auckland.
Mr Singh had come to New Zealand as a student seven years ago and was supposed to travel to Punjab, India to meet his family later in December this year.
“Harpreet was a smart, bright and a generous person. We have lost a gem,” Mr Singh’s paternal grandfather living in Auckland Nirmal Bhatti told The Indian Weekender.
“His mother and sister have travelled from India to conduct his last rites on Saturday. May his soul rest in peace,” Mr Bhatti added.
