Since 2008 the Mayoress Gala Ball is the feature event hosted by Manukau city. Its immediate success has led the event to be hosted every two years. This year it will again be held at the TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre.
The Mayoress Charity Gala Ball is the pride and joy of Manukau City Mayor Len Brown and his wife Shan Inglis and they have taken the role of hosts for the second consecutive time.
This year’s theme is ‘Sparkles’ and everything wil be planned accordingly.
Moreover the evening will kick off on a high note with gourmet food, fine tasting wine and superb entertainment.
There will also be a live auction hosted by James Parkinson from Art+Object. The MC’s for the night will be the ever so talented Wendy Petrie and Mark Sainsbury.
Most importantly the whole initiative for this gala ball is to raise funds for children in Counties Manukau. In 2008, the Mayoress Gala Ball was successful in raising funds of $300,000 and this year they are trying to achieve and even higher target.
The chosen charity organisation this year is Kidz First Children’s Hospital. This is a particularly an exciting year for them because it is the hospital’s 10th anniversary. Moreover Kidz First has provided the children and the youth in Manukau counties with comprehensive services for the past decade.
The funds raised this year will go towards purchasing an ultra sound which can detect abnormalities in unborn babies. This will help improve planning treatment for these babies who desperately need assistance.
Shan Inglis says this is “a worthwhile cause and that is dear to our hearts”.
