Body of Indian found on roadside in Sydney

Sydney: Another Indian was found dead on a roadside in Sydney on Sunday, refueling fears of resumption of racist attacks on Indians in Australia.

The body on Dharmendra Singh, hailing from Nadampur village in Punjab, was recovered on South Street in Granville, Sydney, Sunday morning.

Police said that Singh had left his friends’ place after drinks on Saturday night and was found dead near that house the next morning.

Autopsy on the body will be carried out on Tuesday, police said, though adding that preliminary investigations have revealed that there was no foul play.

The cause or circumstances of the death will be revealed after a complete investigation, police said.

Thirty-five-year-old Singh had been living in Sydney for more than a year now with his wife.

The recovery of the body has reignited apprehensions of racist attacks on Indians in Australia after number of attacks on Indians had taken place since the past year, mostly on racist account.

The governments of both the countries have been addressing the issue, but attacks have continued.
