Devadatt Paranjape

Devadatt’s first love is acting. Originally from Mumbai, Dev brings a depth to his performances thanks to his experience as an actor in plays and TV Serials in Mumbai.  So it’s exciting to see him don the hat of a director with the Marathi production. This is his second time in the director’s seat.

Tarun Turk Mhatare Ark

Come and enjoy this evergreen, hilarious and nonstop comedy play in Marathi ‘Tarun Turk Mhatare Ark’ in Auckland. This play set a benchmark in India when it was first staged and a record 5000 shows were produced in the 1970s. ‘Tarun Turk Mhatare Ark’ meaning ‘Young Turks and Aged Extracts’ by Prof Madhukar Toradmal showcases the richness of Marathi.

Arguably, Marathi is considered to be so flexible that speakers can be rude and polite, sophisticated and crass, diplomatic and direct at the same time. This is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the nuances of Marathi with talented actors who bring a classic play to life in Auckland.
