ChCh dairy owners petrified with three brazen incidents in one morning

Police were called at two different locations in Christchurch attacked by brazen robbers and attended two separate incidents of arson early on Friday morning, July 13.
Police were called to On the Spot Dairy on Lincoln Road at about11 a.m. after reports of an armed robbery at the store.
A woman working at the store who chose not to be named told police that a man entered the store wearing a hoodie and confronted her with a small knife. He then took eight packets of tobacco and some cigarette packs and cash from the register and ran away before the worker could hit the panic alarm button.
"These kinds of robberies seem to happen frequently," she told media.
AUM Foodmarket at the corner of Hopkins St and Mackenzie Ave in Woolston was reported to be attacked by a car in the wee hours of Friday morning.
Police was alerted at 5:20 a.m. of an attempted ram raid at AUM Foodmarket. Shop manager Saginder Singh that he cannot open the shop as there was extensive damage to the store.
“This is simply ridiculous and unacceptable,” he told media.
A police spokeswoman said that the offenders simply ram-raided the store damaging the entrance door, shattering glasses and taking down the wall but did not steal anything from the store.
In another incident, police were alerted to three cars set ablaze at two different locations in the city.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) spokesman Brent Dunn told media that two cars were found ablaze on Matlock St in Woolston, while a third was found in Greenpark St in Hoon Hay just after 5 a.m.
Police are investigating if the two incidents are connected.
The Indian Weekender has contacted the police for an update on the investigation on the three incidents and waiting for their response.
In two other incidents during the weekend in Dunedin, two dairy stores located in St Kilda were robbed of thousands of dollars and tobacco products taken by two armed offenders. The incident happened on Sunday evening, after 6 p.m., and the police suspect that the two robberies in St Kilda are committed by the same couple, who are also reported to have used a handgun to rob the stores. The police are investigating the incidents.
