Grey Lynn dairy store attack leaves mother and son critically injured

A mother and son duo injured critically after an unprovoked violent assault in a Grey Lynn dairy store is recuperating in Auckland City hospital after surgeries.
The mother and son duo were stabbed at the Hylite Dairy on Great North Rd, Grey Lynn, about 7 pm last night.
The police have confirmed that they are currently speaking with three people who are helping with enquiries into an aggravated robbery.
Superintendent Karyn Malthus also confirmed that this appears to be an unprovoked and violent attack.
“This appears to be an unprovoked and violent attack and police are determined to hold the offenders to account. We’d like to reassure the community we are doing everything we can to apprehend those responsible for this attack,” Superintendent Karyn Malthus said.
A police media stand up is scheduled later today at 2.30 pm to provide a further update about the incident and the condition of mother-son duo.
Earlier police media release said that the two victims, a mother and her adult son, have received serious and critical injuries and have both undergone surgery. They are now both in a stable condition.
Police are still working to establish the circumstances of what has occurred and enquiries are ongoing and a further update will be given early this afternoon.
