Telangana Rashtra Samithi- TRS

Telangana’s statehood struggle is one of the most protracted peoples' movements in the world. The six-decade fight, which began in the early 1950s, and reached its goal in February 2014.

Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) launched the Telangana Rashtra Samithi Party in 2001. Prof Jayashankar, the ideologue of statehood movement, extended his support to the KCR. On Nov 29, 2009, the KCR announced an indefinite hunger strike demanding statehood to Telangana.

After ten days of fast, the Central Govt announced the formation of Telangana and rollbacked its decision within two weeks and after four years of protests finally in 2014 statehood was announced. On June 2, 2014, the first government was formed under the able leadership of Sri K Chandrashekhar Rao.

TRS New Zealand Branch was launched in 2016 by Member of Parliament Smt. Kalvakuntla Kavitha garu and appointed Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy Kosna as president. Currently TRS New Zealand has the following team Kalyan Rao Kasuganti,Narsinga Rao Enaganti, Jagan Reddy Vodnala, Rama Rao Rachakonda, Narender Reddy Patlolla, Abhilash Rao Yachamaneni, Indra Shekar Sirigiri, Sunitha Vijay, Sushanthi Arun Prakash, Sujith Singh, Kiran Kumar Pokala, Rammohan Danthala, Mohan Reddy Beerapu, Mallikarjun Reddy Baddam, Panuganti Srinivas,Narsinga Rao Puppala, Arun Rao, Srihari Banda, Arun Prakash Reddy, Ashthosh Reddy Vodnala, Rajeshwari Kondagari, Varun Rao Mechineni.

Since the formation of TRS NZ is actively spreading the developmental activities taken up by local Telangana State Government providing necessary feedback and suggestions related to NRIs and student affairs. Helping the NRI Telanganities where ever TRS lead government help needed. Also pursuing with local New Zealand companies any available options of investing in Telangana region to create more jobs. NRI TRS has more than 20 branches opened up in various countries with the help of NRI TRS coordinator Mahesh Bigala.

Some of the key works and achievements under the leadership of KCR:

  • Mission Bhageeratha- Safe drinking water to households
  • Mission Kakatiya- Tank repairs
  • KCR Kit- For mothers who get his after delivering a baby
  • Kalyana Laxmi- Hundred thousand rupees for the marriage of girls, and to discourage female infanticide
  • Rythu Bandhu- 8,000 INR per annum per acre to farmers as a free investment
  • Kaleshwaram Project- Biggest underground water dam project
  • No.1 State in delivering poll promises- Most of the other states have come to study these schemes, and many have introduced successfully. KCR garu is also planning to announce the formation of a Federal Front with one of its kind Federal Agenda to spread development aspect of Telangana to Entire India.

The TRS NZ president Vijay Kosna has already visited Telangana several times in the last few years and believes that the people of Telangana are pleased with TRS' work and will vote TRS back into power.
