Bhartiya Mandir conducts another massive Maha Shivratri Puja

The footfall of the devotees at Bhartiya Mandir has gone up by manifolds over the time with more people coming in during special puja events. The temple hosted very successful Lohri celebrations earlier in January, and on the occasion of Maha Shivratri, more than 2500 people turned up during the whole day.
Devotees started coming to the temple from the early hours of the morning on Tuesday, February 13 to complete their Maha Shivratri puja. By evening, the temple parking and the adjoining streets flocked with vehicles and a similar number of devotees were seen doing the puja inside the temple.
The special puja on the occasion of Maha Shivratri was conducted in four pahars (sessions), each of two hours. The first session started at 8 p.m., and the last pahar ended at 6 a.m. on Wednesday morning, February 14.
The temple made arrangements inside so each family can station themselves with their puja samaghri (items) such as coconut, rice, kumkum, milk, fruits, ghee, rudraksha etc.
The puja was conducted by head priest Shri Upendra Bhai Joshi and Pt Govind Prasad Sharma.
An integral part of the puja is bathing the Shiv Lingam with milk and water, and devotees brought ghee, yoghurt, ghee and coconut water to bathe the Shiv Lingam and shower it with flowers.
Like every year, the temple displays a replica of a monument or temple from India having religious significance. This year volunteers at Bhartiya Mandir made a model of the Shiv Temple of Kedarnath on Garhwal the Himalayan ranges of Kedarnath in the state of Uttarakhand, north India. The replica was covered with cotton strings and blue net blanket resembling the snowing mountain and the Mandakini River in the background of the Shiv temple.
The temple also hosts regular prayer sessions every morning and evening with a special Hanuman prayer service every Tuesday evening.
