Canterbury road accident victim identified as Boney Biju

The person died in the Hanmer Springs road accident has been identified as Boney Biju, who was on work-visa in New Zealand.
The accident occurred at around 12:40 a.m. on Sunday, December 24 in Hanmer Springs, a town in Canterbury region. The single-vehicle collided with a tree on Jollies Pass Road.
Boney celebrated his 21st birthday on Saturday, December 23 and was returning home with his friend from his birthday party when the accident happened.
Boney hailed from Aluva, a small town in Kochi, India. The other person critically injured in the accident was a German national and is being treated at Wellington Hospital.
The Indian High Commission is in touch with the family of the deceased in Kerela, India and making necessary arrangements.
