Enchanting evening of “Ghazals” awaits Aucklanders

Sargam School of Indian Music and Nisar Mirza are bringing an exciting event to Auckland. For the first time audiences in Auckland will be entertained with an evening of Ghazals. The idea has been mooted by Nisar Mirza for many years and his dream is reaching fruition on April 10 at the Dorothy Winston Centre at 7.00 pm when the best of singers in Auckland are gathering to render some of finest ghazals heard over the years.
The medley of singers is led by none other than Prof S D Madhur, himself an accomplished Violinist and singer. Joining him will be the accomplished singer and a teacher, Sandhya Rao. She has been a regular singer on the All India Radio and has sung with Lata Mangeshkar herself. Along with them is Arun Khotkar, the veteran versatile singer and judge of Music Reality shows in New Zealand, who also has his own music school.
Viraj Maki will also be performing some of his favourite ghazals, whom Aucklanders have heard in several shows singing hindi film songs of yesteryears. Adding to this medley is the multi-talented Roshan, who has been a popular Ghazal singer. Kanika Deish will be singing in her usual soulful voice and will be the one to watch.
So shall the audience eagerly await Shobha Pathak. Harish Khatnoor will render the ghazals of Ghulam Ali, Anoop Jalota, Pankaj Udhas as well as Mehdi Hassan. The man behind this dream, Nisar Mirzaji, will also sing ghazals of his favourite singers.
