Well done our seniors: Shanti Niwas

Shanti Niwas on Thursday, December 14, hosted Volunteers Recognition Day and a big Christmas celebration at Greenlane Christian Centre in Auckland, recognising the value of the senior citizens in the community.
More than 250 senior members of the community participated in the event. Several community leaders, police officers, parliamentarians and the Honorary Consul of India, Bhav Dhillon, graced the event.
The event commenced with recognition of the contributions of the volunteers who play a vital role towards achieving the goals of Shanti Niwas and making such events a success.
Speaking on occasion, Mr Dhillon applauded seniors for their contribution to the community.
He also took the opportunity to apprise the seniors about some of the important services currently being offered, especially to the elders, at the newly opened consul office in Auckland.
“The Auckland office is providing many services for which earlier the seniors had to go to Wellington,” Mr Dhillon said.
The event continued with Christmas carols, music performances, dance and gift presentations.
The Indian Weekender Mr Diwali 2017 winner Anchal Marwah also sang a hymn at the event.
‘Sugar-Free’ a popular skit group in Auckland led by theatre artists Chirag Solanki, Rupal Solanki and their son Siddhraj Solanki, performed their Christmas presentation Anmol (meaning precious) at the event.
