Pacific Cup 2017 set to captivate soccer fans in Auckland

The much-awaited Pacific Cup 2017 – an annual soccer tournament that comes to Auckland every alternate year – and involves local clubs from Fiji, New Zealand and Australia, is set to captivate soccer fans in the Kiwi-Indian community.
“Soccer is almost a religion for many of us in Fiji, and we are committed to giving them a mesmerising experience in Auckland,” Sachin Dutt, President of New Zealand Fiji Football Inc (NZFFI) hosting this event told The Indian Weekender.
“We always bring best four teams from Fiji which qualifies on a point system based league matches.
“Spectators could be well assured of a spectacular contest on the field, amazing vibes, fun, food and extravaganza on the venue of this competition,” Mr Dutt added.
The four clubs from Fiji visiting this year for the tournament are Labasa, Lautoka, Rewa and Nadi, whereas Auckland would be represented by Manukau All Stars, North Shore All Stars NZFFI All Stars and Auckland All Stars.
NZFFI is affiliated to the parent body Fiji Football Association, which is the official governing body of the sport of football in Fiji.
It is affiliated with the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) and Federation International de Football Association (FIFA).
“This year we are also getting a team from the United States (US),” Mr Dutt said.
The tournament starts on Wednesday, November 22, and ends on Sunday, November 26.
Matches will be played in the one-hour format with each half of 30 minutes.
The semi-finals and final would be played together on the concluding day of the tournament on Sunday, November 26.
