Crash on Southern motorway creates 6km queue

Traffic is down to a 6km crawl on Auckland's Southern Motorway after an early morning crash.

All lanes have re-opened after a smash after East Tamaki left the right-hand lane heading into the city blocked.

Long queues quickly banked up back to Manukau.

The New Zealand Transport Agency said while the crash had now been cleared motorists should expect delays as rush hour built up.

Traffic was crawling from the Southwestern Link at Manukau to East Tamaki and those using the Southern Motorway should allow extra time for travel today.

NZTA updated on its Twitter: South-Western Mwy: #Crash quickly cleared from lanes but #delays occurring northbound from Manukau to Cavendish Dr. Please #BePatient
