The Christchurch Fiji Association – an organisation formed in 2002 to initiate, promote, support and maintain cultural, religious and educational needs of the Fiji and Pacific migrants and their children – organised its annual Social on September 2.
Vinesh Prakash, Secretary of the Association said, “Attended by over 200 members, the event saw karaoke and dance performances, as well as the traditional Fijian drink and food being served.
It was a good gathering, and a precursor to our main event next month, which will be the Diwali celebrations.
“The event gave an opportunity to our kids to display their talents. In our Association we appreciate all artists and don't judge them. No screening is done. People just come and perform.
"This has fostered a community spirit and helped us succeed year after year.” Vinay Prakash added.
