Indian cab driver rewarded for honesty in Brisbane

An Indian cab driver is being praised for his honesty and efforts in tracking down a man who lost his bag carrying AUD $6000 cash, an Apple iPad and some documents.
Atambeer Singh, a renowned cab driver of Black & White Cabs in Brisbane, Australia has been in this profession for nine years and has also received ‘Best Business Class Driver’ award in 2014.
As per Black & White Cabs, on Thursday evening of June 8, Mr Singh noticed that the driver of a black Range Rover had left a bag on the roof of his car.
“The driver and his wife had been smoking next to the car. When they had finished their cigarettes they both entered the car, forgetting they had placed the bag on the roof,” Mr Singh said.
The bag slipped off from the roof of the car at a busy intersection, and Mr Singh was able to retrieve it. He then followed the car but lost track due to busy city traffic.
Mr Singh after dropping his ride in Chermside started the process of hunting down the owner of the bag. The man was recognised as ‘Daniel’ as per the documents in the bag.
Mr Singh used the contact information in the documents to track Daniel but could not get any response. He also dropped at Daniel’s residential address only to find that he had recently moved out.
Mr Singh used Facebook as his last option and left text and voice messages to Daniel to which he finally responded. Mr Singh along with his daughter met Daniel to hand over his lost property.
Daniel added that the money was not important, but his documents and iPad were of immense value to him and his business.
Daniel expressing his gratitude tried rewarding Mr Singh by offering him some cash, but the 'Good Samaritan' humbly refused stating ‘it was his moral duty’.
Daniel, however, grabbed some cash and handed over to Mr Singh’s daughter and said “This is a reward for your dad because of the good thing he did for me. Give it to him when you get home,” media reported.
Mr Singh credited his efforts to the Sikh principles inculcated in him.
Mr Singh’s daughter when returned home discovered that Daniel had rewarded her father $3000 for his honesty and effort.
