Urdu language lauded

The Hyderabad Urdu Cultural Association of New Zealand recently celebrated its inaugural function and Eid-ul-Adha.
Opposition leader Phil Goff, MP Labour, the chief guest, inaugurated the occasion by lighting the traditional lamp and writing Urdu alphabets on the white board. And he greeted the Muslim community on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.
The audience expressed its happiness by applauding appreciatively. This was a unique occasion for the Leader of the Opposition and the other VIPs present.
National MP Kanwaljit Singh Bakshi, guests of honour Mohammed Tauqeer Khan Payami, QSM, and Tayeb Bhai Sahab, president Anjuman-e- Safiya, were also present. Tayeb Bhai Sahab also spoke about the importance of Eid-ul- adha
Mr Goff, in his speech advised the gathering to preserve the mother tongue and heritage of their mother land in New Zealand. He said Urdu language was spoken internationally in European countries as well.
Mr Bakshi spoke about the relevance of the language and its importance in context as the mother tongue to be preserved. He also said more than 15,000 speakers of Urdu language lived in New Zealand.
Other VIPs spoke highly about the good work of HUCANZ and its efforts in teaching FREE Urdu language to young Kiwis and other interested people.
Dr Taimoori, president, introduced HUCANZ and detailed its aims and objectives.
Mujahid Ali, secretary HUCANZ, presented his report in which he invited people to enrol as members. And requested all interested to take advantage of free Urdu classes. He spoke about about the future activities of HUCANZ.
Idris Ali Ansari expressed vote of thanks.
