Auckland Gets a Perfect Long Easter Weekend

Auckland Gets a Perfect Long Easter Weekend

In seemed Aucklanders either took off to a holidaying destination for a long weekend or had 5 days of fun at the ASB grounds last weekend. The Easter weekend (3 April to 6 April) was one of the longest weekend since the Christmas holidays and the people of Auckland could not get a better escape than the Easter Show in Greenlane.

The Easter Show that went on for 5 longs days and evenings was one of the best family fair seen in a long time. It had all the amenities for a perfect family outing with great variety of food, amazing number of rides for the adults, fun activities for the kids, recreational activities for the old ones, farm show, stunts, band performances etc.

The showground covered from one end to the other housed huge bouncing, freestyle jumping from 6 and 10 metres heights, extreme FMX riders showing stunts in air, circus shows, arts and crafts world, the shoot the star and win prizes etc.

The ASB showground’s indoor activities were something that people and kids have longed for and it was there to fulfil their wishes. The open farm set up with of course safety barricades showed all the animals from the farms that were freely roaming in their perimeters and audience were allowed to touch them, fondle a little and also feed them. Duck and ducklings, hens, sheep, piglets, cows, exotic birds, rabbits, Shetland Ponies, dogs and cats.

The farm world was a perfect set up with sheep dog trials, wool trimming from sheep’s bodies, cow milking, bird and goat feeding. Kids played with the rabbits, ducklings, chased the sheep and fed them with hay that were available at the farm.

Outside the farm at one section one could relish in Turkish and Chinese delights, get tattoos, face paintings, buy Chinese cartoon characters, freshly baked cookies and cakes with coffee and ice cream.

The 5 day show that started 10 in the morning lasted for 12 hours with fireworks every day at 9 pm, the event had some really adrenaline driven adventurous rides many were scared to even participate it. The giant wheels, the flying saucer, the haunted house ride, vertical bungees, and the most dangerous ride that seemed were the hurricane, scream machine, sizzler, gravitron, and the Turbo boost that gave goose bumps to the onlookers by just seeing it.

There was also a show called ‘Meet the Minions that garnered maximum number of kids and the Yin Yan, Freestyle Motor Stunt show, Alice in Wonderland and other performances. Everyday an estimated number of 25000 people visited the show with a rise on Saturday and Sunday. The crowd from all the ethnic groups were seen at the show, the event was impeccably managed by the volunteers and stall owners.

Auckland could not have asked for a better weekend for their family and the event did justice to the occasion by giving them the best holiday and adventure spot.
