Papatoetoe murder: Weapon found

During further investigation in Operation Bastille, police have found the knife used to fatally stab Davinder Singh when he and his wife were having their meal inside his car in South Auckland.

A 31-year old woman and a 28-year old man appeared at Manukau District Court on Saturday jointly charged with Mr Singh's murder.

Both have been remanded in custody and will reappear in the High Court on Wednesday.
The accused have been granted name suppression so that they can get time to inform their families in India.

Detectives investigating the homicide of Davinder Singh believe they have located a weapon of interest to the investigation and are no longer seeking public assistance regarding it.

"Police thank those members of the public who contacted the Operation Bastille team about items they located which may have been of interest," police statement said.

Davinder Singh, 35, was stabbed to death as he sat in his car beside wife Amandeep Kaur outside the Manukau Event Centre in Norman Spencer Drive, Papatoetoe, about 7.20pm on Thursday.

They were on their way home from work and had stopped to eat a takeaway meal when the attack occurred.
