Black Friday for the ACT Party

Black Friday for the ACT Party

Friday the 13th was a black day not only for John Banks who resigned his role as MP, but also for the ACT Party who have once again let down the people of Epsom, according to Michael Wood, Labour candidate for Epsom.

ìJohn Banks has been ACTís sole MP, leader, and lifeline to parliament over the past three years. He has been ACTís public face, and in that capacity has been defended to the hilt by ACT and the government. The day before his guilty verdict, ACT campaign manager Richard Prebble insisted on his innocenceî

ìYet now we have the pathetic spectacle of ACT trying to pretend that John Banks never existed, and that his behaviour as sole ACT MP is somehow de-linked from the ACT Party. Epsom voters wonít fall for that one. They have been embarrassed time and again by ACT; from Rodney Hideís perks, to Jamie Whyteís support for incest, and now the Banks circusî

ìThe worst thing, is that without pausing for breath, ACT is once again on its hind legs begging National to gift it the parliamentary seat of Epsom. This is a disgrace. The people of Epsom are once again being treated as pawns in a desperate attempt to keep ACT aliveî

ìEpsom deserves better, and this election voters can choose to end the ongoing embarrassment of representation by an organisation that is more of a circus that a political partyî, says Michael Wood.

John Banks was found guilty of electoral fraud earlier this month and he resigned from his post on friday 13 June
