Hundreds mark Aradhana

Hundreds mark Aradhana
Around 300 devotees gathered in Mt Roskill recently to mark Sri Raghavendra Swamy’s 338th Aradhana.
The Aradhana, held over three days starting on August 7, was celebrated with much fanfare by a group of ardent devotees of Sri Guru Raghavendra Bhakti Prachara Peeta (SGRBPP), Auckland.
The first two days of Aradhana  was organized at Peeta’s office and the third day Aradhana was held in public at Mt. Roskill Intermediate Hall.
In Auckland, this is the seventh year in succession that such a function is held by a small group of devotees with much dedication, devotion and well organized manner.
The function started at 8am with a two-hour pooja with the chanting of Vishnu Sahasranama /Vaayu Stuti /Hanuman Chalisa and Sri Raghavendra Ashtottharam befitting the occasion.
Next, in a devotional music extravaganza, many compositions of saintly personnel (“DASARA SANKEERTANE’) were mellifluously rendered by the devotees present on the occasion.
This was followed by a pravachan on “GURU stotra Patana Mahima”  - by one of the founder members, explaining the benefits that accrue to the devotees who ever chants  the ‘Rayara stotra’ quoting few of the verses in Sanskrit.
Salutations made to such magnanimous spiritual Guru with utmost humility and reverence certainly begets his grace and makes one worthy of His benediction.
The highlight of the day's function was the newly built,  elegant structure of the ‘Chariot (RATHA)’ engineered by one of the devotees who donated it to PEETA on that day. The ‘Rathotsavam’ (circumambulation of the chariot inside the hall) with Rayaru’s Silver Brindavan seated in it that followed by continuous bhajans - enthralled the viewers giving an impression that  they were actually watching the original one at Mantralayam.
Almost all the devotees had tears of joy while experiencing the exuberance.
Delicious Prasadam prepared by devotees was served to all in the traditional manner on plantain leaves.
A short audio visual on Rayaru / Bichalayam / SGRB Peeta was screened while the devotees were having their prasadam.
The evening session commenced at 6.00pm with sangita seva followed by ‘TOTTALU SEVA’ (cradle seva) to Rayaru.
The chairman and the secretary of Peeta felicitated the devotees who worked tirelessly for the event.
Sri Raghavendra Swamy is said to be the divine incarnation of the great “Bhakta PRAHLADA? who belonged to the “KRITA YUGA?, instrumental in spreading Narayana Bhakti to the universe and bringing harmony to the human lives.
He took to sainthood at the age of 21 and lived a humble life besides being the greatest scholar in Vedic studies and endowed with unparalleled healing powers in the history. He was an ‘Aparoksha Jnani’  who had the vision of the Lord Vishnu. His mission was to spread 'HARI BHAKTI' that ultimately leads the souls to the eternal heaven (a state of permanent ecstasy).
Thousands of pilgrims visit the holy place, Mantralayam in Andhra Pradesh, India, each day throughout the year to have the saint’s grace for alleviation of their day to day ailments in their lives. Rayaru blesses all his devotees irrespective of caste, creed, color, race or nationality.
As ordained by Rayaru –‘Hanuman chalisa parayana’ and ‘Sri Raghavendra namasmarana’ seva was rendered with great devotion by PEETA for seven weeks prior to Aradhana in order to reinforce the spiritual strength to the devotees.
