‘Hall of Fame’ project set to go

Indian weekender takes it up a notch with the launch of the Kiwi Indian Hall of Fame.

Set to coincide with its landmark 100th issue, this first-of-its-kind initiative honors the pursuit of excellence and shares the paper’s vision of celebrating and engaging with the wider Kiwi-Indian community.

Since its first issue, launched in times of economic turbulence, Indian Weekender has only gone from strength to strength, and has exceeded all expectations.

Today, the paper claims over one third of the readership in the Indian diaspora of 110,0000 people – catering for readers with cultural roots in Fiji, India, South Africa and the Indian subcontinent countries of Bangladash, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

People of Indian origin have a 150-year-old relationship with New Zealand and it is one of the fastest growing ethnic communities.

Many have had remarkable success in their chosen fields and the dynamic roles they played, contributed much to the country. The story is still unfolding and the Hall of Fame will play a significant role in its telling.

Many believe that such an initiative, which chronicles the journey and achievements of people of Indian origin, is long over-due. More details of the event and the initiative are eagerly awaited.
