66th India’s Independence Day Celebration in Auckland on Sunday 12th August 2012 Bhartiya Samaj Charitable Trust is celebrating the 66th India’s Independence Day on Sunday 12th of August 2012 at ASB Theatre, Aotea Centre

Bhartiya Samaj wishes to reflect upon the land-mark event in the history of India, 15th August 1947, the day India gained its Independence. India’s Independence Day is an occasion to rejoice the achievement of freedom to a new dawn in the life of India. The organisation dedicates this prized moment in the honour of those brave countrymen who have sacrificed their lives to give all Indians an opportunity to breathe in this air of freedom.

Bhartiya Samaj through this celebratory event wishes to showcase the cultural diversity of India and promote the motto of ‘Unity in Diversity’. The event would commence with a ceremonial hoisting of the Indian Tri-color Flag at the Aotea Square followed by cultural performances by various community groups from Auckland. The cultural performances not only include the diverse performances from India but also by community groups representing other neighbouring countries of India.

Event Schedule:
10:30 AM Flag Hoisting Ceremony at Aotea Square
11:15 AM Official Opening of Cultural Events at ASB Theatre, Aotea Centre
11:30 AM to 2:30 PM Cultural Performances by various community groups
3:00 PM Program conclusion and Vote of Thanks

It is the largest multi-faith organization functioning in Auckland with over 1000 members, established to help and support people of South Asian Origin who are settled and also those who have newly migrated to New Zealand, by means of various community development and awareness activities. It is an All - Inclusive organization and work in close tandem with many other community development organizations representing the different states of India as well as representing the neighbouring countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet and Sri Lanka.
