Mohamed Iqbal’s ‘tea’ party with Sir Anand Satyanand

04 July: Mohamed Iqbal today celebrated the ending of his 42 year innings as the Honorary Tea Commissioner for Sri Lanka (in New Zealand, Australia & Fiji) with a delightful lunch and tea party at the Jewel of India restaurant at Mission Bay.

And joining his tea party was none other than the ex-Governor General of New Zealand, Sir Anand Satyanand. He along with other distinguished guests, namely: Mr. Raman Rayganda, Dr. C.S. Kanagalingam and Dr. Rajen Prasad came to give company and acknowledge Mr. Iqbal’s contribution over the years.

Mr. Mohammad Iqbal as been associated with the Sri Lankan Tea Board for over 42 years at various levels and has been the Tea Commissioner for New Zealand, Australia and Fiji. He has provided a lot of support to promote Ceylon Tea world over and particularly in this part of the world. He resigned from the board on 30th June, 2012, due to some personal & confidential reasons.

Mr. Iqbal choose the ‘Jewel of India’ as the preferred venue for this occasion and Mr. Giri Gupta, owner of the restaurant, hosted this special lunch.

Sir Anand Satyanand loved the curry at the restaurant and said that he had a lovely lunch.
