Rangmanch, in association with SDIOC, proudly announces the re-staging of its debut production – a Hindi play “Zimmedari” - on Otober 15.
Rangmanch is an Auckland based theatre group dedicated to promote quality Hindi plays to New Zealand audience. Zimmedari has been a highly acclaimed and successful production of Rangmanch.
It is family drama which stiches together the finer nuances of relationship between the members in a family (father, mother and the daughter along with their close associates).
It is a heart melting story of Love and commitment told in the true form and style of a Chekhovian play. This play deals with the strange complexities of human relationships that question the basic ideas of the moral fabric of humans in the contemporary society.
Within such confines, paralysed by the useless social norms and stigmas, the ordinary man search for meaningful relationships – relationships that can only be equated in terms of humanity and love.
Often the society does not recognise such relationships, which are based on mutual trust, affection, sentiments and the warmth of the heart and moral commitments.
Facing a tremendous turmoil in their lives, the main characters throw this very question of commitment to the Moralists Society and including all of us, only to leave everyone dumbfounded at the end.
We come back with a deep sense of morality and commitment embalmed with the soothing and refreshing feeling of love and bondage within the family that holds us together in our daily life.
Zimmedari is a play of deep introspection. It makes us look back deep into the subtle emotions that we all preserve within our heart without which it would have been so difficult to survive in this modern materialistic world so full of hatred, distrust and greed.
