Glamour and glitz at fashion show

The 2022 Fashion Show and Met Gala event in Auckland was high on glamour and glitz. Organised by Fashion Club Inc.ART, the event took place on Monday (29th August) at The Glasshouse at Morningside.
The night celebrated diversity as designers from different countries, including a respected member of the LGBT community, showcased their talent.
The line-up of designers included two Kiwi-Indian designers, Jaiss and Daya, along with Samantha Zhang, Daya, Jacqueline Anne and Cecilia Kang.
Sharing his experience of presenting his men’s collection titled Elegance at the event, Jaiss said, “As an Indian designer in New Zealand, I felt it was a great opportunity to showcase my talent. The vibe of the event was great. I feel that NZ needs more such events to promote the fashion industry of Aotearoa."
Talking about the event, which saw the presence of around 300 guests, Kiwi Indian designer Daya, who has a label called Ovya, said, “It is a great platform to showcase my designs. I have always been inspired by nature, and the beauty of nature inspires me. My collection reflected the artisans of India and nature as a whole.”
The show’s organiser, Allan Myers, Managing Director of Fashion Club Inc.ART, said he is honoured to be part of a celebration of cultural and social diversity which has often been an upbeat hallmark of NZ society. He seemed amazed by the response to the show and said, “I would like to thank everyone who dressed to the Met Gala theme and merged with the runway in a confluence of colour and style. Altogether this made an exciting and interactive event. A beginning of a new revolution in the way fashion is experienced.”
Guests, too, were seen appreciating and enjoying the style and glam night.
One of the guests, Roimatawe Susan, said, "It was a fantastic event. In the aftermath of Covid-19 in NZ, we desperately needed such a dynamic event. The designers and models were terrific and acted out their creativity and multicultural inclusion well.”
Another attendee and a known theatre artist Rupal Solanki said, “The night felt out of the world as if I was somewhere attending fashion in Paris. It showcased the best fashion stylists and models taking over the runway like a boss.”
