ISKCON celebrates golden jubilee with fervour

ISKCON Auckland organised a 3-day festival to mark the 50th anniversary of Sri Sri RadhaGiridhari Bhagavan with full enthusiasm and devotion at the Hare Krishna Centre in Kumeu.
RadhaGiridhari Bhagavan was first installed at ISKON’s temple in New Zealand at a house at 155 Landscape Road, Mt. Eden on April 18, 1972 by its founder Acharya A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada.
The event, which began on April 22, was attended by dignitaries and ISKCON devotees. The dignitaries included Transport Minister Michael Wood, Superintendent of NZ Police Rakesh Nadioo, Honorary Consul of India in Auckland Bhav Dhillon, and Second Secretary, High Commission of India , Wellington Durga Dass.
Each day concluded with prasadam (feast). The maha-abhishek of Sri Sri RadhaGiridhari Bhagavan took place on Saturday, which was followed by the maha-abhishek of ISKCON’s founder Acharya Srila Prabhupada on Sunday.
"It was indeed a full house event. We are overwhelmed by the support of everyone who registered their presence and made this event a grand success. The last day of the event saw a turnout of more than 500 people. We are thankful to everyone for their continuous support, "said Krishnacandra Das of the ISKON Centre, Auckland.
