Man killed in Queenstown accident was planning to visit home in India

Tajinder Singh- the Indian man, involved in the fatal accident on 15 April in Queenstown, is described by his friends as a gentleman. The 27-year-old was in a sedan when it got hit by a Ute near Jack Point Kingston Rd in Queenstown. While Singh died, the other passenger in the car is still in the hospital and is in serious condition.
Tajinder Singh had not been to his home back in India for the last seven years and was planning to visit his family in India in the next few months.
Singh was 20 years old when he moved to New Zealand and was currently working as a builder. He had applied for his residency, which was expected to come next month. He is the only child, and his parents are grief-stricken. Singh hails from the village Kalra in Punjab.
His friends have described him as a gentleman passionate about keeping fit.
Consulate of India in Auckland Bhav Dhillon is in touch with Tajinder's next in kin. Efforts are on to repatriate Tajinder's body back to his home in India.
Mr Dhillon told us, "The Indian High Commission has assured all support for arranging final repatriation."
