Covid-19 updates: Lockdown day 11

The number of locations of interest has dropped for the first time since the Covid-19 Delta outbreak began in Auckland, but an early childcare centre has been added to the list today.

The number of locations of interest has dropped from more than 500 to 485 today, as some are classified as no longer relevant.

Locations of interest are removed from the website after 18 days, because the Ministry of Health no longer deems that they pose a public health risk.

New locations from the day before the lockdown began have been added to the list today, including several areas at the AUT city campus and the childcare centre in the Auckland suburb of Manurewa.

People who were at the All About Children centre on Mahia Road on Tuesday 17 August between 2:45pm and 3pm are being told to isolate at home for 14 days and get tested immediately.

Meanwhile, Wellington's mayor says businesses will be breathing a sigh of relief at the prospect of the alert level changing next week - and so is the city council.

Andy Foster said the change from level 4 to 3 at midnight on Tuesday night will allow several major council projects to restart.

"It'll make a big difference for businesses. I know that some are already gearing up for click and collect type operations.

"Big difference too for construction - we're going to be very relieved to get back on to the work of the town hall, reservoirs and so on."
