Touch of Indian spice in New Zealand

Touch of Indian spice in New Zealand

The Spices Board of India, in association with the High Commission of India, Wellington, is organising India Spice Food Festival at Stamford Plaza Hotel, Auckland, from November 1-5.

Some of the exporters of spices and a well known chef from India will also participate in the festival.

The event plans to bring potential major New Zealand buyers (importers, traders and restaurant operators) to meet with visiting Indian officials to explore the opportunities and identification of suitable distribution partners in New Zealand.

India’s Spices Board, which is a body of the Ministry of Commerce of the Government of India, is the flagship organisation for the development and worldwide promotion of Indian spices.

The Board is an international link between the Indian exporters and the importers abroad. It has been spearheading activities for excellence of Indian spices, involving every segment of the industry.

New Zealand is an emerging multicultural nation, with strongly growing Indian and Asian influences. Indian food has equally gained interest over the years among Kiwis as one of the highest selling and sought after cuisines.

Noted Indian chef Jose Varkey will anchor the event.

Spices Board Deputy Director P.S.S. Thampi and Director Finance and Marketing, Charles Kithu will also attend.
