PM Jacinda Arden wishes Muslim community a blessed Ramadan and Eid Mubarak

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has conveyed her message for the Muslim community in New Zealand on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr tomorrow.
The Federation of Islamic Association of New Zealand (FIANZ) announced on Wednesday, May 12 that since the moon of Shawwal was not sighted sighted therefore Eid will be celebrated in New Zealand on Friday, May 14.
The Prime Minister's message for the Muslim community celebrating Eid says:
Assalamu Alaykum, kia ora koutou katoa,
My thoughts are with all our Muslim whanau as they observe the holy month of Ramadan, and prepare to celebrate Eid ul-Fitr. I wish you happiness and peace as you gather with family and friends.
I would like to thank our Muslim communities for the role they’ve played in helping us keep COVID at bay. The past year hasn’t been easy, but as a country, we’ve come together with empathy, compassion and kindness. These values are also at the heart of Ramadan and Eid ul-Fitr – a reminder that, no matter what our background, New Zealanders share a common ground.
I wish you a blessed Ramadan, and all the very best as you celebrate Eid ul-Fitr.
Eid Mubarak!
