Kiwi Indian man killed in a car crash in Canterbury

A Kiwi Indian man has been killed in a road accident in Canterbury on Wednesday night, March 10.
The man was identified as an Indian descent 33-year-old Christchurch resident Malaykumar Patel.
Emergency services were called to Tram Road, West Eyreton, Oxford in Canterbury for a single-vehicle crash, sadly the driver of the vehicle died at the scene.

"Police extend their sympathies to the family and friends of Malaykumar.
"Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing," the police team investigating the accident said.

On Saturday, March 13, Richmond Cricket Club- Home of Rhino’s observed a minute’s silence and paid tribute to Malaykumar, who they remember as a cheerful person and a great sportsman.
“Malay was an extremely well respected and liked member of our cricket club, with a run-up and bowling action you will forever remember,” Richmond Cricket Club mentioned on their Facebook page.
Malaykumar’s body will be repatriated to his family living in Navsari in Gujarat, India. More to come.
This was one of the two fatal crashes reported in Canterbury on Wednesday.
A woman died when she crashed into a truck on Main North Rd, near the Richill St intersection, at about 11.10 am.
